Social Value Statement
At BMS Digital Safety, we believe meaningful social value is created by investing in people, supporting innovation and helping to strengthen the future healthcare workforce. As a specialist consultancy operating across clinical safety, digital health, healthcare technology and artificial intelligence, we are committed to developing knowledge, skills and capability within these sectors.
Our social value activities are focused on addressing workforce challenges across healthcare and supporting the safe adoption of digital and AI-enabled technologies. We provide opportunities for students, healthcare professionals, aspiring Clinical Safety Officers, innovators and digital health professionals to develop their knowledge and experience through practical learning, mentoring and professional support.
Our Social Value Commitments
Each year, BMS Digital Safety will work towards delivering the following activities:
- Provide work experience, shadowing and placement opportunities for individuals seeking careers in clinical safety, digital health and healthcare technology.
- Deliver and continually develop our Clinical Safety Officer Development Programme to support aspiring and newly qualified Clinical Safety Officers through structured learning, mentoring and coaching.
- Provide mentoring and coaching support to individuals pursuing careers in clinical safety, digital transformation, health informatics and healthcare technology.
- Provide low cost support to selected innovators & start-ups, helping organisations navigate clinical safety, information governance and regulatory requirements.
- Support professional development through knowledge-sharing activities, including educational content, webinars, conference presentations, speaking engagements and industry events.
- Promote awareness of clinical safety and digital governance standards to support safer adoption of healthcare technologies within health and care settings.

Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Bradshaw Medical Solutions Limited, trading as BMS Digital Safety, is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities and supporting the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
We recognise the role that organisations of all sizes must play in addressing climate change and are committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, or sooner where reasonably practicable.
As a digital-first consultancy specialising in digital clinical safety, DCB0129 compliance, DCB0160 assurance, DTAC support and healthcare technology compliance, our environmental footprint is relatively small compared with many organisations operating within the healthcare sector. Nevertheless, we recognise that all organisations have a responsibility to minimise emissions and continually improve environmental performance.
Baseline Emissions Assessment
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were generated prior to the introduction of any future emissions reduction initiatives. The baseline emissions provide the reference point against which future reductions can be measured.
The 2025/26 financial year has been adopted as the baseline year for carbon reporting purposes. During this period, BMS Digital Safety operated primarily as a remote-first consultancy without dedicated office premises, company-owned vehicles or significant operational infrastructure. Emissions data has been estimated based on organisational activities including homeworking, cloud-based software services, business travel and purchased goods and services.
The business employed and engaged approximately nine individuals during the reporting period, all operating largely through remote working arrangements.
This is the first year in which BMS Digital Safety has formally assessed and documented its greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, the baseline year and reporting year are the same.
Based on the nature of our services and operating model, Scope 1 emissions are currently negligible, as the organisation does not own or operate vehicles, heating systems or other direct emission sources.
Similarly, Scope 2 emissions are limited because the organisation does not currently operate dedicated office premises. Most services are delivered remotely using cloud-based technologies and digital collaboration platforms.
The principal sources of emissions arise from Scope 3 activities, including business travel, employee commuting where applicable, homeworking activities, cloud-based technology services, purchased goods and services and occasional office-related expenditure.
As the business continues to grow, we will undertake annual reviews of our emissions profile and improve the quality and granularity of emissions reporting in line with recognised carbon reporting methodologies and government guidance.
As a remote-first consultancy, the majority of emissions arise from homeworking activities, information technology services, purchased equipment and limited business travel. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are currently negligible due to the absence of company-owned vehicles and dedicated office accommodation. Baseline emissions have been estimated using recognised greenhouse gas reporting principles and will be refined over time as reporting processes and data quality mature.

Emissions Reduction Targets
In order to continue progressing towards Net Zero emissions by 2050, BMS Digital Safety has adopted the following carbon reduction objectives:
- Maintain a remote-first operating model wherever appropriate.
- Minimise business travel through the use of virtual meetings and digital collaboration technologies.
- Continue the use of paperless systems and electronic documentation.
- Incorporate sustainability considerations into supplier selection and procurement activities.
- Improve annual data collection and environmental reporting processes.
- Identify additional opportunities for reducing environmental impacts as the organisation grows.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease from 1.75 tCO₂e in the baseline year to approximately 1.35 tCO₂e by 2030 through continued remote-first working practices, sustainable procurement decisions, reduced travel requirements and improved environmental management.
This represents an anticipated reduction of approximately 23% against the baseline year.
Progress against these targets will be reviewed annually.
BMS Digital Safety is committed to reducing emissions through practical and proportionate measures. Our primary objective is to minimise unnecessary carbon emissions whilst maintaining high-quality service delivery to our clients.
We will continue to adopt a remote-first approach wherever appropriate, reducing unnecessary travel and promoting virtual engagement as the default method for meetings, workshops and assurance activities. Digital documentation, electronic signatures and cloud-based collaboration tools will continue to be used to minimise paper consumption and reduce the environmental impact associated with traditional working practices.
As part of supplier selection and procurement activities, environmental considerations will increasingly form part of our decision-making processes. We will seek opportunities to work with suppliers who demonstrate strong sustainability credentials and responsible environmental practices.
The organisation will review environmental performance annually and will identify additional opportunities for emissions reduction as the business develops.

The following environmental management measures have been implemented and will remain in effect when performing contracts:
- Remote-first operating model reducing employee commuting and business travel.
- Digital document management systems reducing paper consumption.
- Electronic signatures for contracts, framework agreements, statements of work and approvals.
- Cloud-based collaboration and document management platforms.
- Virtual meetings as the default approach for client engagement, workshops, governance meetings and assurance activities.
- Reduced printing through the use of digital reports, safety cases, hazard logs and compliance documentation.
- Use of secure cloud-hosted systems to minimise physical infrastructure requirements.
- Promotion of paperless working practices across all business functions.
These measures contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts whilst supporting efficient service delivery to healthcare organisations and technology suppliers.
Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives
BMS Digital Safety intends to further improve environmental performance through the following initiatives:
- Annual measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Refinement of emissions calculations using increasingly accurate operational data.
- Development of longer-term carbon reduction targets and milestones.
- Increased consideration of supplier sustainability credentials during procurement and contracting activities.
- Ongoing review of cloud and technology providers to identify environmentally responsible services.
- Continued reduction of unnecessary travel through effective use of remote collaboration technologies.
- Evaluation of environmental management standards and certification schemes appropriate to the organisation’s size and scope.
Governance and Accountability
Overall responsibility for environmental performance, implementation of this Carbon Reduction Plan and oversight of progress towards Net Zero rests with the Director of BMS Digital Safety.
Environmental performance and carbon reduction objectives will be reviewed annually. This Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed and updated at least annually and within six months of the financial year end to ensure it remains aligned with organisational activities, business growth and best practice guidance.
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standards for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Protocol Corporate Standard. Appropriate Government greenhouse gas conversion factors have been applied where relevant. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with applicable reporting requirements and the relevant subset of Scope 3 emissions have been included in accordance with recognised reporting standards.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Director of Bradshaw Medical Solutions Limited, trading as BMS Digital Safety.
